Creede / Mineral County

Among the most unique mountain towns in Colorado, Creede, an old mining camp rich in heritage, has become a modern day arts center. A tiny historic town of only 350 residents, Mineral County’s year-round population is only 850!

Creede’s setting against the cliffs that mark the entrance to the historic silver mining district make it a charming jewel in the crown that is Mineral County.

The county’s 900 square miles are nearly 96% public land, mostly National Forest, including two wilderness areas, a major stretch of the Continental Divide, several “fourteeners” and a share in the headwaters of the Rio Grande and the San Juan rivers. Mineral County is a huge playground known for outdoor sports and activities and as a romantic setting in every season of the year.
